I've been in Philly for a few years now, having moved here for grad school and a new job. I love living in the city and all of the great things that come with it! But working a lot can make it tricky to meet new people. I have a wonderful family and friends whom I adore, but it would definitely be great to meet someone with some shared interests and values.
And speaking of values - I think we all want people in our lives that are honest, kind, forthright, dynamic, etc. It's the other things about someone, the things that are difficult to describe or articulate, that usually resonate with me. Chemistry is a real thing, for sure, and when it happens, when you get that weak-in-the-knees feeling and all that goes with it...who doesn't want that?
Yes, please: Wine and listening to records late at night. Actually filling out half of the Sunday NY Times crossword without Googling anything. Holding hands. Motorcycles. Band T-shirts. Brunch. Naps. Being responsible, and owning it when you misstep. That feeling you get when you hear an incredible song, or read an incredible passage, or see your pets after a long day at work. Doing the right thing because you want to, not because you expect something in return. And there's no such thing as having too many books.
In terms of what I like in a partner - a great sense of humor and confidence (but not bravado) go a long way. Make me laugh, and I'll possibly swoon a little. I also value kindness, intelligence, happiness, and zeal for what you do - professionally and otherwise. Inevitably, I would like to meet someone who would become a best friend, someone with a sense of adventure and an awareness for what's really important in life. Staying fit and healthy is also important to me, so it would be great to meet someone who might enjoy running, biking or golfing together on occasion (although I totally understand if you'd prefer to go to the gym solo, too). I also love cooking (especially baking), reading, going to record stores (I still listen to records - I'm a little analog), seeing shows, museums, having drinks or dinner with friends, and going to the farmer's market on Sunday. And of course, sometimes just staying in and being cozy is great, too. I'm generally up for anything, but I usually prefer dive-y to trendy, a little worn or vintage to shiny and new,...you get the idea. I love things that have character, and a story.
So...if any of this strikes a chord with you, get in touch! :)
