They say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Is any one else on here feeling a little insane?
In no particular order, here are a few details about me that you might find interesting...
I have a great group of friends from all walks of life, some going back 25 plus years, and I wouldn’t trade them for the world. Always room for more though, if you can pass the secret initiation.
My wonderful family is spread all over CA and I grew up with five older sisters. That might explain why I actually like romantic comedies. Don’t let that fool you into thinking that I don’t also like movies full of suspense, drama and action. The influence of my sisters was rounded out by my grandfather, who could literally build a house with his own two hands.
Southern California hasn’t always been my home. I was born in Texas and lived in North Carolina as a child (think creeks for fishing, kickball games, cul-de-sac block parties and fireflies). I love the beach and surf culture here and might have a few surfing safari fantasies I'd like to explore one day.
Naturally creative and curious, I am equal parts artist and engineer. I work in sales for a company that makes 3D rendering software and I love it. I also design and create contemporary jewelry and teach beginning jewelry and metalsmithing in Laguna. Want to learn how to use a blow torch or hammer metal into pretty things you can wear? I can help with that.
Cooking is something I enjoy. I own a stand mixer and creme brulee torch and everything. I would love to find someone I can cook with and experiment with new recipes over a glass of wine, or two. My two biggest influences learning to cook were my step-mom, who is the ultimate MacGyver chef and my Grandma, who was the ultimate comfort food cook. Oh, and Alton Brown, my favorite mad scientist cooking show chef.
My taste in music is pretty diverse, from new bands like The Lumineers, Of Monsters and Men and Avett Brothers to classics like Zeppelin and the Doors. The first concert I ever saw was Pink Floyd at the LA Coliseum... that was a great show.
Going to an Angels game (especially big bang Friday) or a hockey game makes for a fun day but, truth be told, I am not a huge pro sports fan. You will never find me in front of the tv with the game on (I’ll just be watching something else). I do though, when possible, host a badass Superbowl party.
As for what I am looking for...
Intelligence, openness, honesty, kindness, curiosity… those are really good starting points. More often than not, it just seems to come down to chemistry.
I am looking for a partner in every sense of the word. It's probably worth noting that under the right circumstances and with the right person, I would like to get married again and start a family.
Ultimately, I am looking for the things I guess we all are (or should be): real experiences with real people in real life that create laughter and good memories, genuine conversations with signs of vulnerability showing through, first date butterflies, and first kisses that stop time and compress the world around you.
Take a chance, say (more than) hi, ask questions...
