ABOUT HER & WHO SHE'S LOOKING FOR

About Me:

I am an energetic, progressively thinking educator and lifelong student. The latter being more literal than figurative... I am completing my doctoral dissertation.... I defend this fall, then I can finally be a real girl!

I am perhaps a bit on the outside of the box in my way of thinking compared to some... but, that is where I seek my comfort, for I find small enclosed minds claustrophobic.

I am a public high school teacher, so my private life is not always so private. I must live above the moral standards of most; this is easy for me, because it is who I am. It is also my duty as a parent of an adolescent girl to be the woman - the mother - she can respect and admire and hopefully emulate. In short - I am not a part of the online dating community to "hook up"... or form serial relationships. I do not date often... and when I do agree to meet, it is because I have a genuine interest.

I confess to being a bit of a loner. I do not "party". Bars... I have never done them. Nice girls just don't... and we are always curious as to how nice guys cannot know this. My ideas of fun are vastly different from most. For example, after a long weekend day of grading or writing research - on cool and even cold days - I love to bundle up, strip the Jeep naked, pack something hot to drink, and drive toward the mountains to catch the sunset. I prefer road trips in the Jeep with my dingo, hound, and my beautiful daughter to the fabricated kind of fun that so plagues families via the media.

I work out nearly every day.... and am well aware I have a youthful look. That is a product of good genes and a healthy lifestyle. My 14 year-old daughter will tell me in a heartbeat if a gentleman looks too old for me... while that is amusing... I have never disagreed with her. I do not care if you lie about your age in your profile.... just be sure you can carry it off... and have recent photos so when we meet I am not catapulted into shock and spend the date wondering where the nearest exit is.

Contacting me: I am always hesitant to meet someone with whom I have not had a few email conversations - then a phone conversation. You will find in an actual conversation that I am not your typical Southern female, certainly no Belle or Peach, on the other hand I am not very aggressive. Men look at my profile all the time... some come back frequently. I get winks, emails, favorited... and I thank some of them.. but mostly unless someone has taken the time to write a thought provoking note or email... I just leave it alone.

(4/14) I have recently joined a personal dating service where there are flesh and blood match-makers. The fees are quite exorbitant ... but, when I factor what I have paid for online "dating" over the past few years.... it is cheap... for the fee is good "until married" or otherwise no longer available. I figure any man who pays those types of fees is really serious about meeting someone... is not just window shopping... and realizes the same about women with whom he is matched.

About You:

Many men have profiles containing the words "friends first"; while most agree that true friendship is an important element of a romantic relationship - it is not what comes first. Attraction is first and foremost in any relationship; it is when people are blinded by physical attraction and do not realize they are not attracted to an individual's personality or character that friendship cannot evolve out of the initial attraction and the relationship fails.

Who attracts me will hold certain physical traits I find attractive... healthy, reasonably fit, and well-dressed without fastidiousness - however, that is only a start. A man, like a pair of expensive shoes, may look good in the dressing room mirror, and may complement my favorite outfits, but if I find walking the distance is just plain uncomfortable, the fit is all wrong. I can learn a great deal about a man simply by walking beside him.

Interests:
Coffee and conversation, Cooking, Dining out, Movies/Videos, Museums and art, Music and concerts, Exploring new areas, Performing arts, Playing cards, Political interests, Shopping/Antiques, Travel/Sightseeing, Volunteering, Wine tasting
Sports & exercise:
Weights / Machines, Other types of exercise
Exercise habits:
I exercise 5 or more times per week
Pets:
I have Cats, Dogs
Pet Essay:

My Man-Cat would be very offended at being referred to as "pet".. fastidious fellow with his faux set, he is. Also, two rescued pups, $am, the dingo who ate my baby (hole in Jeep seat), and Jazz, a Weimaraner... 85 lbs of pure neurosis.

Political views:
Non-conformist
Sign:
Libra
College:
Northcentral University, Prescott Valley, AZ
For fun:

Well... I am somewhat a-sportual so you will have trouble getting me to a game (without some serious negotiations) - and I don't eat man-food - so ball-park hotdogs and beer won't do it.

Otherwise, I am pretty easy to please (psst! big fat lie!).

Favorite hot spots:

I do not have a favorite hotspot per se.... there are a few places on the Marietta Square I enjoy. I will never apologize for living OTP... I am a quiet person preferring the quiet and quaint.... coffee, wine, conversation, and laughter.

Favorite things:

These are a few of my favorite things: classic movies; Classical music; quiet of the early mornings; laughing uncontrollably; green apples; white grapes; red wine; toe rings; ankle bracelets; and last but not least... my Jeep.

Last read:

Certainly not one of those silly "man-how-to" books. I may write my own and call it - If you have to catch him - why the heck would you want to keep him?

Seriously.... research for my dissertation... which is focused on racial dialogues.
