I love growing and eating food, laughing with friends, strategizing ways to create more just, sustainable and joyful communities. I like learning to build things on my own, caring for livestock, spending time outside hiking and swimming in ponds. You are more likely to find me on my bike than in the gym, in a coffee shop than a club, and singing than listening to an iPod. I'm open and outgoing and I laugh a lot, often at my own expense (I mean, I just started out a day by putting my oatmeal in the french press with the coffee...I have to laugh!). I have worked a lot with teenagers and love teaching and learning from them, along with farming, spending time with friends, board games, trivia, cooking, tea, personality tests, dancing, hooded sweatshirts, biking through puddles, summer, spring and fall.
I grew up in Maryland and Mexico City, Ohio and France, Germany and Panama, listen to everything from Gillian Welch and Crooked Still, to Mexican rap and French 80's pop to Mumford and Sons and the Avett Brothers...but Creedence stays in the tape deck (this also tells you something about the age of my car). I love being outside and active - I've done a triathlon, a marathon, hiked Mount Washington, kayaked around the Chesapeake, and farmed for years, but I am also a champion sleeper who loves waking up just 10 minutes early so that I can hit the snooze button and "sleep in". I'm not a big drinker, but I like playing darts or getting a good IPA or stout at the pub across the street where I will run into folks I know. My friends are closest to my heart and I will drop everything for any of them. I love to travel, love to get lost, and love to go back home. Haven't had a tv for years, but I'll go find somewhere to watch the world cup or the olympics. I love working outside -- used to work with birds in panama, then did gardening and neighborhood outreach with teenagers, and now I farm. I love milking cows - nothing like waking up in the morning and putting your face up against their flank before you have to start thinking, and I am still amazed each time the seed I put into the ground sprouts. I'm looking for someone who knows who he is, but is never tired of asking that question again, who loves people watching and coming up with theories about people and who will reach for the "back of the napkin" to sketch out an answer to one of life's imponderables...and can also laugh at himself for coming up with theories. I'm looking for someone who has a passion or dream and who is excited to keep learning every day. Someone who is willing to try any food once, who laughs at my puns and who still is curious about the world. Someone who loves food and enjoys trying to live as sustainably as possible.
I have another semester in a masters program in Keene, NH, and you'll also find me in western mass where I live, in boston, visiting family and looking for jobs in Portland and Seaside Oregon, or farmsitting for friends in Maryland. Drop me a line if you'd like to meet up in any of those places! Thanks for reading...I love bouncing back some witty emails, but I'm not looking for a penpal, and I feel like it is much easier to see if there is a connection if we meet up.
