ABOUT HIM & WHO HE'S LOOKING FOR

I'm undecided if attempting to describe yourself on here does more harm or good, for how can we truly explain who we are in a few paragraphs? And everyone's view of you depends on what you wrote and what mood you were in when you wrote it.

With that caveat, here goes:

I have a lot of life experience for my age, and I’m wiser for it. I know who I am, what I want, and what I have to offer. But I find it's hard to meet women in my age range that share the same perspective – it seems it often takes more years or some difficult trials to really figure out who you are and what you want. I have interacted with a fair amount of girls on here that, well, I'll just say it - have a distorted view of themselves - they are more shallow, immature, self-centered, and unoriginal than they think. So I'm looking for someone who has a presence that demonstrates that knowledge and experience, not simply a verbal insistence that they have it.

I don’t fit neatly into any particular type or group. I’m equally comfortable in a tailored suit at a power meeting, or in cowboy boots at the ranch, or in a wetsuit bombing down some whitewater. I enjoy reading biographies of historical political leaders as much as I enjoy a study of Buddhist philosophy or maybe some modern literature. Ideally I would like to meet someone equally eclectic and comfortable in a multitude of different settings.

I’m seeking someone who is as intellectually curious as I am – for me it is the very point of life. Learning is essential to growth and change – the foundation of our existence. I need someone who possesses this same passion for learning; someone I can openly share ideas with and who will eagerly explore the deeper meanings of life with me.

I get the greatest joy from being outdoors, traveling and exploring new places, reading and reflecting, and spending quality time family and friends. My latest passion is whitewater kayaking. It provides my adrenaline fix, clears my mind, and gets me closer to nature and my God. And if this doesn’t catch your fancy, I am also looking for someone who would be interested in going on backpacking trips with me. I wouldn't mind finding a cycling partner either.

But while I think some shared interests are important, I don't need someone identical. I think it's important to have some different interests and to be your own person, in fact, I think that adds to attraction.

I finally feel I’m at a stage in my life where I am content. I have a great family, great circle of friends, and a great career. But most importantly I’m content because I’ve finally come to realize what’s truly important in life and it’s not the material things – it’s only people and experiences. I have all that I need. I can finally say that I am honestly grateful for all of the hardships I’ve endured in my life because they have made me who I am and I have grown and learned so much from each one. If I could go back in time and change them, I wouldn’t touch a single one. And I’m proud to report that after much heartache, despair, and disillusionment, I still believe in true love. In fact, perhaps it is only now that I truly understand what that means. I’m looking for someone who can say the same.

I’m seeking someone that knows exactly who they are and what they want. For me, I want someone that will be my best friend, someone with an open mind and heart to share all of life’s experiences with – both good and bad and will appreciate how each will make our relationship deeper and stronger in the end.

I have much love, compassion, wisdom, and laughter to share with someone. And while finding a partner in this life is the linchpin to the next stage of my life and evolution, I have learned this is something that cannot be rushed or compromised. So until that day comes, I will continue on my journey and learn about the virtue of patience.
