I'm British, but I've spent the last 8 years living in Scandinavia, Japan, and most recently the US. I love traveling and exploring new places, always with an open mind to new cultures and new experiences. I'm passionate and driven about my work -- I'm a research scientist and university lecturer so I value education and admire original thinkers. But finding a good work/life balance is very important to me and making time for friends, family and my other interests is always a priority. I try not to take myself too seriously and enjoy hanging out and having a drink with friends as much as anything else.
I love nature and the outdoors, and outdoor sports like cycling, running and hiking, but I also enjoy badminton and working out at the gym. I get a real sense of achievement from trying to improve myself, whether in my work, the gym, or just being a good mate. I always try to maintain a positive outlook. I've backpacked across 6 continents, but when I don't have weeks to fly to far-flung places, you can find me on a Saturday jumping on my bike and cycling a hundred miles across the state. But I'm now training for the Philadelphia marathon so these days I do much more running than cycling!
I've yet to do a classic road trip and it's definitely on my bucket list. But basically, I'm down-to-earth and easy-going, and like nothing more than chilling in front of a great movie, listening to music, playing the piano, or watching the latest sports -- just not all the time!
Well, that's a bit about me and what I like, but I'm not looking for a mirror image of myself -- just someone to share my life and inspire me to be a better person! Hopefully you're intelligent, ambitious, motivated, enjoy challenging yourself and learning new things. You ideally like exploring new places, have an international outlook and a spirit for adventure. A kind heart and a wicked sense of humour wouldn't hurt either :)
