"Love what you love. Enjoy what you enjoy. And don't take s*it from anyone!"
I'm a good man.
I'm honest. I'm respectful. I'm committed to becoming a better man...
I'm in awe of beauty, as well as truth.
I'm intelligent and intellectual, witty as hell, hilarious at times, athletic on occasion. I'm always up for adventure! (I'm pretty handy with access to the right tools.)
I have a taste for the sacred as well as the profane, for high art & culture (opera or symphony anyone?), as well as lowbrow humor & slapstick (and so much in-between).
And while I have done quite a bit of traveling in my life, I intend to do a whole lot more of it! The world is for exploring.
I'm a cinemaphile and I have a deep appreciation for many types of artistic expression...
I work as a psychologist and I consult on media/film/app projects and am practicing as a psychotherapist in private practice. Creativity is inherent to my work -- as is meditation and altered states... (I'm thrilled that I get to do -- and get better at -- what I love, day after day!)
I'm not afraid of fear. I'm not afraid of love...
Transformation is integral to living life with one's full awareness... And, while it's the only way to be human, it isn't for the feint of heart.
A bit more background:
Grew up in the NYC suburbs of NJ
College in Ohio,
Moved to CA to study "transpersonal psychology" -- a paradigm in psychology that includes (among other things) a study of peak or extraordinary experiences, states of consciousness, spirituality, and phenomena which seem to "transcend and include the personal" (i.e., "trans-personal").
Studied traditional psychology, therapy, meditation, spirituality, states of consciousness and the effects of nature films on adolescent stress, I received a masters in transpersonal psychology in '05 and a doctorate in clinical psychology in '09.
Now on the cusp of getting licensed as a psychologist, working as a therapist under supervision,
Also consulting with filmmakers, producers, and artists in the support and development of various types of media projects (which is another -- not unrelated to psychology -- interest and passion of mine).
LOVE what I do and seem to be living in a state of "nostalgia about the future." ;)
In moving from NJ to CA, lost some, but not all, of the east coast attitude, but NOT the edge!
In studying psychology, appreciate the value of open and honest communication -- practicing mindfulness, reflective listening.
Use words like "empathy" and "compassion," talk about how ideas "resonate" or can be "embodied" (clearly the result of living in CA. ;)
(But this is only what I am doing with my life, ostensibly. Truth be told, it is a mere shell game for my deep cover espionage in which I serve as covert informant on the myriad elements and fundamental essences of the mysteries underlying all that which makes life worth living: the thrills, the blisses, the joys, and the serendipitous spontaneity of immanent phenomenal viscera that are embodied in the realization of each and every waking moment in which we're not just simply living, but are, in fact, worshiping the experience of being Truly Alive! ;)
