I was born in NYC and raised in Northern California. Moved to East Africa after college where I volunteered building a new AIDS orphanage. It was an amazing experience, hilarious and awe-inspiring at times, infuriating and frustrating at others. I met some incredible people, and at some point we all had the same thought that we really enjoyed the work we were doing, didn’t want to stop, and had the crazy idea that we might actually be able to make a difference. So we founded a new non-profit organization that works on a variety of issues related to poverty in East Africa. I have been based here in LA now for almost 5 years, building and managing relationships with companies and universities that team with us to design and implement our programs. It’s a work in progress, probably always will be but it’s a lot of fun and getting more exciting each month. I feel very strongly about what I do and trying to make a difference.
I have an addiction to the outdoors, especially the backcountry. I hike, climb, backpack, camp, canoe, kayak, scuba dive, anything that reminds me how small we are on this planet. I haven’t got into surfing, snowboarding or skiing yet really but they’re on the list. I think going to the gym is really boring yet I am there pretty much 5 days a week. I subject myself to this so that I can better enjoy these outdoor activities. Somewhere along the way I thought it would fun to climb up to the top of mountains despite my not too severe fear of heights. Spent my last birthday climbing on the South Island of New Zealand and now I’ve got my sights set on two California “Fourteeners” this summer. No, I will not try and drag you along if you don’t want to go but if you do or you like camping or backpacking, I’m pretty good at fending off rabid squirrels and will carry the wine.
I really enjoy photography. I don’t carry a huge camera around with me, mine fits in my front pocket. I can get lost in my own head listening to music and enjoy making an attempt to play the guitar. As much as I like being active, I also enjoy being still. Put me in a hammock with a cold beer and I call that inner peace. I like to cook, consider it a social activity, and have been known to throw flour. I come from a theater family, grew up doing my homework at rehearsals and still enjoy going out to see a show.
I’m looking for a strong and affectionate woman with an adventurous spirit. Someone who takes advantage of every opportunity to smile and laugh, willing to give an honest opinion, explore and go that little bit further to experience life. If you think we could have fun together, please don’t be shy.
