Tell me with only one shot at catching your interest amongst the multitude of e-mails and winks that come your way, it's not easy knowing what to write here. I could leave out something important we have in common and then I've missed my chance. And that's really what it all comes down to, chance. Right? Smelling the ocean before you see it. Watching a dog be a dog. Reading something that could change the course of history or simply discovering that you aren't alone in your thoughts. Saving someone from embarrassment by taking it on yourself. Breath-taking views in foreign lands. The tranquility of dusk as the sun sets and the sky turns to a kaleidoscope of colors only nature can create. Crossword puzzles or scrabble at the beach. Surfing, but not being a surfer, dude. Hearing live music in small clubs or under the stars. Movies and theater that captivate your thoughts and test your emotions. Being true to your word. Margaritas under the sun. Exercising outdoors. Focusing on what you have instead of what you don't. Laughing at yourself. Knowing you can handle whatever life challenges you with. Preparing a home cooked meal. Fresh flowers. Big juicy red wine and dark chocolate. PDA because you can't help yourself. The smell of sun and sea that perfumes you after a day at the beach. Squishing mud, sand, grapes, or grass between your toes. Walking instead of driving. Communicating with a foreigner despite speaking different languages. Helping someone in need. Surprising someone with thoughtfulness. Knowing your friends won't let you down. Thunderstorms and lightening viewed from a dark room with the smell of rain wafting through the open window. Art because of the way it moves you solely. And most of all, being able to share these and the countless other joys in life with someone dear.
Lastly, I believe understanding, humor, perspective, and trust are the bedrock of a lasting partnership where two people are each others biggest supporters and confidants.
