So I decided to rewrite this bio and like many of you have expressed, it isn’t easy having to describe myself, plus I am a guy which adds in another disadvantage. First the lack of photos has nothing to do with hiding my looks. It has more to do with I am always the one taking the photos. Of all the photos of my trip to Hawaii with my sons, I am not in a single one. Of the 300 plus of my trip to Europe with my sons I am in two, one the day we are leaving to go to Europe and the other is in front of my brother’s house the morning we are coming home. Think Tom Hanks with salt and pepper hair and that is whom I look like. Also, I am not a teetotaler by choice. I had to stop three years ago because when I had a glass of wine or beer I would develop an irregular heartbeat. It is quite uncomfortable and frankly not worth the discomfort. I am ok if you drink in front of me, though you may notice me looking longingly at your drink. And just think, you have a permanent designated driver. Now on to some things about me. I’ve really had a good life with a lot of great experiences. I realize not everyone has had the chance to have all the experiences I have had and feel blessed. My family took lots of vacations when I was growing up and combined with my 7 years in the Air Force and my current employer, I have had the opportunity to travel a lot. I have been to 40 of the 50 states and toured much of Western Europe. I was born and raised in Illinois and have lived in West Germany, Ohio, Indiana and now Minnesota. I still have a lot of things I want to do and see and heck, many of the places I have been to already have been so long ago, I’d like to go back. I am very service oriented (doing things for others) and that got instilled in me as a youth in Scouts. It was one of the reason I went in the military and why I became a Scout leader as an adult. I and both my sons are Eagle Scouts. I’ve worked with Habitat for Humanity building houses which plays right in to my handy man personality. The only thing I won’t do on my own is plumbing but have no problem with electrical, framing, hanging sheet rock or tiling. I was married for 21 years and I have been divorced now for four and half years. I have 2 grown boys. One is in Grad School at the University of Michigan. The other is a Junior at the University of Minnesota. I am looking for my best friend and someone that wants to be with me for the rest of my life. My friends describe as kind, caring and helpful. I have been told I treat women like ladies and make them feel safe and secure. We all have baggage and quirks and I am fine with yours and hope you will accept mine. I have a good paying job and own a home. My ideal partner is someone that likes a lot of the same things I do but doesn’t need to like everything that I like. We each can be ourselves without our partner some times. In other words if you like to go antiquing with your girlfriends, that is great and I will support you with that need, but likely not always go myself. I have a boat that I don’t get out in nearly as much as I want recently since my kids are grown. I like to canoe and recently went kayaking for the first time. Camping, hiking and exploring are all things I do and enjoy. But I also like to go to a movie, sit on the couch and watch TV or just snuggle. I am not needy, but I like to be needed.
