I've signed up for online dating before out of curiosity, but this is my first honest attempt to meet someone. During my first year in Santa Monica I was busy with my PhD courses and didn't really get out and meet new people outside of the office. A friend talked me into signing up after she had some good luck here, and it seems like a good way to meet single women without dredging the LA nightlife.
I feel goofy writing paragraphs about myself, so I'll just start with a list and we can fill in the missing parts when we start talking.
Fun(ny) Facts:
I know how to drive a tractor.
I will sing / rap / air drum when I drive.
The Legend Of Zelda theme song is my morning phone alarm.
I grew up near tons of family on Mom's side, and we are a traditionally tight Mexican family.
I like to write faux rap lyrics. They are usually funny, and almost always vulgar.
I despise dialing up to listen to voicemail.
I was in spelling bees.
I order water with no ice.
I was raised by a single mom during the early years.
I love naps.
I like ambers and lagers. Not too keen on pale ales.
My hometown in Kansas has a population of about 500 (no zeros missing).
I like to get dressed up, and have (reportedly) good style.
I can't (won't?) grow facial hair.
I make my bed every morning.
It's hard to describe the girl I'd like to meet since we don't know each other yet, but I suspect she'd have a few particular attributes:
She definitely comes from a great family and learned strong relationships from them.
She is probably amazing at what she does school- or career-wise, mostly because she loves it.
She is slightly dorky and adorably nerdy,
But she can stop a room when she walks in.
And might not even realize it.
I bet she likes to dance. And touch. And kiss.
She might speak a couple languages and play an instrument or sing,
But surely appreciates both.
When I'm around her I'll know that BS'ing is futile, because she can see right through it.
I doubt she's shy about saying how she feels,
And expects me to do the same.
She is curious by nature, and not particularly easy to figure out,
Which makes her endlessly interesting to be with.
