For a little bit more background on me, I'm originally from Sugar Land, Texas (right outside Houston). I still say y'all, and am proud of it, despite majoring in broadcast journalism at Northwestern University and hearing constantly that I needed to adopt non-regional diction to succeed in the business. I originally wanted to be a sportscaster, but an internship here in DC with MSNBC's Hardball made me realize political journalism was my forte. I love journalism but decided to take a detour into straight-up politics after undergrad when I got an internship at the White House. After that, I worked on the Hill, Senate-side, for a few years before heading back to the midwest to attend law school at Washington University in St. Louis. I'm now back in DC, trying to figure out the next steps of my life, personal and otherwise.
