Travel in the past few years has brought me to Haiti, Dominican Republic, New Zealand, and Honduras, as well as road trips around the western U.S. As of mid-October, I just got back from a family vacation to Germany and Switzerland and a solo jaunt to Iceland, and then a 5-day backpacking trip on Kaua'i. In the past I've also taken a few summers off and spent them in Portland, OR and Boulder, CO (very close to where I grew up). I rather enjoy making the journey up as I go along, but having a planner-type along for the trip would probably be a wise choice, too - it's a bit of a weakness. Getting away and out of the usual routines are just as important as having stability in my life in the first place. And though I've occasionally wondered if I'll spend the rest of my life in the Bay Area, what I'm really looking for is someone who makes me want to stay here for good! I'm a fairly avid road cyclist and otherwise quite active, including cycling to and from a job that keeps me on my feet. My sense of humor might sometimes tend toward the dry/wry, but I definitely appreciate those so-stupid-it's funny belly laughs, too. (I kind of laughed my a** off at "Due Date" on a recent flight). I'm a good open-minded activity companion. I'll go along with most anything once, and favorites are, of course, concerts, films, museums, festivals, and most outdoor activities, whether athletic or cultural. I like some of these weird San Francisco type events like pirate musicals and random pseudo-art shenanigans, so a willingness to check out some oddball stuff on occasion is encouraged (although I've never been to Burning Man - and not sure how I feel about it)... I'm also pretty handy around the house - or at least if you need to borrow a tool, I'll probably have it. I also enjoy cooking -especially with someone else. Music on, a glass of wine and a recipe in front of me sounds like a pretty good evening - especially if it's raining. I'm not so good with auto mechanics, although I've temporarily joined a race team in hopes of remedying some of that. ...also so I could make a big smoking, blinking volcano for the roof of the car. It's a pretty serious competition :) I'd love to hear from like-minded, active, fit types (non-smokers, please). Brains and confidence are a must - we're going to be friends, after all. Teach me things! Being a nerd at heart myself, I can't help but have a weak spot for women who exhibit that geeky/sexy dichotomy. I've got my proverbial STUFF (happy, Match? :) together, and am in a pretty good place in my life these days - I hope you are, too!
