After nine years in LA, being back in Atlanta is tougher than I thought-it's almost like moving to a completely new city. Out there, your friends are truly your family, so they are missed, as is the beautiful weather, and the ability to ski and swim on the same day. That said, change is always good and it's exciting to be back in a city with so much happening. I’m 36, so we'll throw that right out there. I’m happy I’m not 21 anymore, not that there’s anything wrong with that. On the contrary, I just mean that now, I have a better view on who I am as a person, where I’m going and what I’m looking for in my career, my friends and a partner in crime. As you get older it's more about what you don't want, than what you do want for your life. What am I looking for, you ask? Well, here we go. Buckle up! I met someone before on Match, we hit it off, dated, it was great, and then our schedules just didn't click. It gives me great faith in the power of Match, however. DON'T: I don’t like people who can’t tell the difference between “your” and “you’re” and “there” and “their”…oh, and while we’re on the topic of grammar, I use too many commas and way too many ellipses…yes, those three little dots that separate my moments of clarity. I don’t generally like smokers, in terms of who I’m attracted to, but if you’re a smoker, hey I’m not going to bash your chops for it. I do like tattoos and piercings, although usually in hidden places…something to do with that conservative during the day…not so conservative at night. Does that make sense? I don’t like people who are closed-minded or generally ignorant or mean about things. Look, we don’t have to agree on everything, what fun would that be? With that said, you should at least be articulate enough to convey your opinion and intelligent enough to listen to mine. DO: I’m attracted to passionate women. I like women who are driven to succeed, regardless of how they define success. Just be assertive, strong-willed, and able to explain why you’re passionate about your pursuits. I generally like athletic women, since I’m an athlete myself. You don’t have to be a gym-rat, or live in the forest or at the beach, but you shouldn’t shy away from those things. I’ve dated women who are 5 feet tall and those who are over 6 feet tall. I’ve dated people with multiple degrees, and people who are self-taught. Please, please, please, be open-minded and up for new adventures. No, that doesn’t mean I want to bring people to the bedroom, it just means you’d be up for a road-trip, or to take a cooking class, or go rock-climbing…anything! Life is meant to be experienced and enjoyed before it passes us by. Physically, if I have to make a basis for comparison would be someone like Rachel McAdams and Mila Kunis. That's easy to find, right? Oh, if you ‘get’ Family Guy, we’ll probably get along fine. MORE: So, that’s about it. I may sound like a handful and I probably am, but I give a lot too. I work hard and play hard (cliche alert), I’m up for new adventures, I make a good living, like to experience fun new things with a partner in crime and it’s tough to find that. I meet a lot of great people, but not the ‘one’ and well, maybe I will find that, maybe I won’t…but I’ll never know unless I try. Full disclosure, I moved to LA to pursue an acting career, had some small successes and continue to pursue that career here in Atlanta. I also work in sales for a cool LA based coffee company, and I will talk your ear off about coffee, tea, the restaurant industry, service standards, etc. etc. Just tell me to shut up! 2nd disclosure: I'm definitely looking for a long-term partner, that could be girlfriend for 10 years, wife for 40 , I don't know, but it also comes with the notion that at some point, moving back to LA may be an option in a few years if the ole' acting career dictates. If not, then Atlanta a wonderful place to raise kids if that happens.
