I am a native Chicagoan (Go Cubs!!) who lived in Seattle for seven years (after graduate school) and then moved across the country to Raleigh. I have been living here now for 5 years and have grown to really like this part of the country. My residency training brought me here and now I have a job that I love in the RTP.
I’m an easy-going person with a sarcastic side – Life really is much better and more peaceful when you don’t get worked up about the small stuff and keep things in perspective.
I enjoy travel. I have done a lot of traveling and site seeing – some planned, some by the seat of my pants – as they say. What I mean is that I have gone on some well planned out trips and, other times, I have embarked on trips with only a general destination in mind and a really good map.
The National Parks are favorite destinations of mine, although I have also hiked quite a bit in western NC. I've been to many NPs, and Yellowstone is my favorite - it's a magical place. The NPs were fairly easy to visit when I lived in the Northwest, although I have made it out to some since living here. I like getting away from civilization and into nature from time to time – it’s one of the ways I recharge. And nothing beats hiking all day in the mountains followed by a big meal and a cold beverage! It would be great to meet someone who enjoys exploring the outdoors as much as I do.
I also enjoy city destinations and checking out the local cuisine, museums, historical sites and night life…. New Orleans and Boston are some great cities I have visited. Belize was one of my latest international destinations.
I try to maintain a healthy life that includes running and yoga. I have been practicing yoga now for over 10 years. I definitely indulge, but try to keep my eating of fast food and highly processed foods at a minimum. New Zealand Sauvignon blancs are my favorite white wines and I love chocolate and my morning coffee.
I am loyal and grateful for my supportive friends and family (they rock), laugh often and am always looking forward to my next adventure. Personal growth and being environmentally conscious are important to me.
I consider myself active and keep busy, but I also really enjoy my down time. I like hitting the town and can definitely get my groove on. Not these days so much, but in the past I have been known to get into some serious dance offs :)
My music interests are wide. My staple favorites are Dave Matthews Band, The Avett Brothers and Ryan Adams (and Whiskeytown). My music tastes also include Ray LaMontagne, Jack Johnson, Mumford and Sons, Chemical Brothers, Nine Inch Nails, Groove Armada, Black-eyed Peas, Bob Marley (always puts me in a good mood), the Lumineers, Amy Winehouse, various dance/house/lounge music artists and everything in between.
I'm looking for my last first date :) So with that I will say - I like men who are mellow (cause I’m mellow) – that’s not to say boring or lazy, but mellow with an adventurous side. Meaning, they are not anxious and they don’t get worked up about little things that go wrong or not as they planned. Men who enjoy an easy-going Sunday morning or hanging at the beach as much as a three hour bike ride or a strenuous seven mile hike.
Important qualities include being open-minded, empathetic, nice and respect for oneself and others. Someone who exercises and takes care of himself is important. I like people who have a general curiosity about life and like intelligent conversation at times -- people who truly appreciate the intangible things in life, cause, really, that’s what makes all the tangible things that much better to have and enjoy….
