The main ingredients of a great relationship is knowing what makes your mate tick. If you know what makes the feel great as well as what puts them over the edge, this is a good indicator on how you need to function and act in relationship. In addition, being able to communicate well, being fair to one another, always trying to understand the other persons point of view. Understanding that agreeing to disagree is ok and sometimes is necessary to keep the relationship at a good level and energy.
