I grew up across many U.S. states and I have been fortunate to have lived abroad twice for my work (Europe both times). However, I am quite happily settled in Colorado now. Although the travel bug still exists in me whether it be a U.S. road-trip, a European jaunt or an extended Asian holiday - I am open to it all! In fact, I cannot imagine an existence where at least once annually I was not somewhere other than home. And I can appreciate a tent in the Colorado mountains as much as a bed and breakfast or a nice European hotel. You might consider it an addiction, but a healthy one at that :-)
I am grateful that my parents instilled the importance of education, hard work and financial stability in me from a very early age. They certainly had a large influence on the independent, open-minded person that I am today. My immediate family lives in Colorado and we are close so I try to see them every couple weeks if possible.
I am fairly athletic although that does not mean I am an exercise freak and I try to eat healthy most of the time, but I am not going to lie - I love my occasional desserts and wine! I try to fit in some form of exercise at least every other day whether it's a neighborhood run, a visit to the gym or a good tennis match. I do this so I can enjoy wine and dessert even more!
In addition to doing sports I love watching them too. Many a Sunday or Monday night I can be found watching my favorite NFL team or other games. I also love watching many different live sports and I have a hidden passion for gymnastics (hopefully that's not a deal breaker :-). March Madness is a fun time too (it's in my blood, I am a Tarheel).
I think my best friends would describe me as outgoing, adaptable to many situations, creative and down-to-earth with a pinch of spontaneity. They know me well enough to realize that when I take risks (whether it be traveling to third world countries or switching jobs), they are always calculated risks - that's probably the accountant in me :-)
While I generally favor doing other things than watching TV I can be found turning on movies, the news and a few other miscellaneous programs during any given week. And I typically have 1 or 2 books on my nightstand that are works-in-progress. I tend to read the paper or news daily as I like to have a sense of what is going on in my world locally and internationally. The more I have travel, the more I have come to appreciate news from many media outlets so I try to broaden my viewpoints.
The two most important qualities I am looking for in another person are intelligence and a great sense of humor - they go a long way with me! I certainly want someone who is not a hermit or couch potato every night of the week although nights in can be quite fun too, don't get me wrong. I would love to meet someone who, while perhaps not a world traveler, is certainly open to visiting new places. I want someone with whom I can have a discussion about anything from world politics to local news to the newest restaurant we want to try. I certainly have some deal breakers: cannot smoke, must be intelligent or continually working to become that :-), willing to accept someone who is a bit of a neat freak, and enjoy a good laugh. I am very happy with nearly all aspects of my life but certainly meeting that special someone would be the icing on the cake.
