I recently moved to Charlotte from Florida by way of a brief stint in Columbia and am looking to meet new people. I have a degree in English and philosophy and I work as a writer for a local literary consultancy, which I love. In my free time, I enjoy reading, blogging, exploring the city, trying new restaurants, visiting museums, and spending time with friends. I'm a very independent person who values honesty, humor, and fun in my relationships. I am looking for someone who is creative, who has an adventurous spirit (but won't try to force me to jump out of a plane or off of a bridge), and who is as committed as I am to continually learning and growing as a person. Basically, I'm looking for someone who is intelligent, responsible, and isn't afraid to be goofy. Being an advocate for the Oxford comma is a major plus :)
So now that the basics are out of the way, here are a few things about me that better showcase my personality:
I would rather wear flats than heels.
Twister is one of my all-time favorite movies.
I love camping as long as there is access to facilities (I have to shower!).
I have five little brothers who I think are the coolest people in the world (and, as you can imagine, I have fantastic babysitting skills).
I have had the same best friend since I was 13.
I don't watch a lot of television, but if I do turn it on I'm normally watching the Discovery Channel, Science Channel, or History Channel (How the Universe Works and Ancient Aliens are two of my favorites). I also really like HGTV and Food Network.
I'm currently working on my cooking skills, as my family and friends have reminded me that I can't eat like a college student my whole life.
I'd rather have a beer than a cocktail.
I'd rather go to a bar than a nightclub.
I'm a sucker for live music--particularly acoustic covers of 90s songs (Third Eye Blind is my jam).
I love learning--it's nerdy, I know, and I own it. If I'm not learning something I feel stagnant and I hate that feeling.
