I just moved back to MA after spending the last 4 years overseas. I'm hoping to relocate to Boston one of these days, but for the moment, I'm adjusting to life in Western Mass and am ready to start meeting new people, although I find myself wandering into Boston and NYC relatively often! I'm still trying to re-adjust after my latest adventures - doing volunteering work in Cambodia for 5 weeks and taking my first ever solo trip around Australia for a month! It's safe to say I am an independent woman, but I've come to realize how nice it would have be to share my adventures with someone I care about.
I have lived overseas on and off since I was 18 years old (mostly in Vienna, Austria, with one year in Singapore and 6 months in Madrid, Spain), and was in Vienna (again) for the last two and a half years. I love experiencing new people, cultures and (especially) food, and my time spent living and traveling abroad is a big part of my life. I'm one lucky lady to say that I can feel perfectly at home on multiple continents, and many of my life's lessons and values have been shaped because of these experiences! I've just traveled to my 45th country and I don't intend on stopping anytime soon! Colombia and Panama are my next stop in April 2013! Central and South America are high up on my list (including Brazil for the 2014 World Cup), as well as Japan, and perhaps Iceland.
I'm a social worker and have a big heart and love helping others. I always feel more satisfaction from a job where I know I can make a difference than a job that can make me rich. I love my family and they were the main reason I finally returned home! I have the best friends in the world, and they are from/live all around the world! I also love working out -I've recently gotten into boot camp and am looking to add in some P90X and TRX training, and since I was in Asia, I also got into a bit of boxing (although muay thai is definitely not my strong point!)!! On the flip side, I'm a totally girly girl and I love massages, dressing up, and I usually run away from spiders or other gross bugs and insects (although I did hold some reptiles in Australia)!
Who am I looking for? Someone who is kind, genuine, open minded, who can make me laugh, and who can enjoy the little moments in life, that might seem insignificant at the time, but that leave you feeling happy and content. Someone who shares my same passion for exploring the world and willing to go outside their comfort zone in order to learn more about themselves as well as others.Someone educated, who has had life experiences (both good and bad) that have helped to both challenge and define their character. And more simply, someone who likes foreign travel, wine, dining out, cooking, and soccer!
I've got to say, I'm sick of reading so many profiles of men that all read the same. Everyone seems to work hard, play hard, have a sarcastic sense of humor and love the beach. I thought variety was the spice of life? I don't respond to one liner emails that are poorly thought out, or any generic message that was clearly copy and pasted to all the same women. While flattery is nice, I prefer a conversation that starts out of genuine, mutual interest and curiosity. I'm also serious about my parameters - especially age ( or - a year or so but not more).
Meanwhile, I recently read an article about how to successfully write an online profile. With that being said, I have not followed any of those guidelines!
