I asked my best friend to describe me. Her response was, " That's simple. You are a pixie. Pixies are natural, fun-loving, witty, creative individuals... just like you."
For the past several years I have been working in the National Park arena with most of my time in the Smokies. Due to this, I'm the independent loner which is normally in her own little world. I prefer one on one or small groups over crowds. I'm happily hyper, yet somehow quiet at the sametime. However, I do experience random "Chatty Cathy" or "Rambling Robyn" moments. Consider yourself forewarned.
I enjoy being around people which see the silver lining in each cloud. Life is a journey worth laughing and smiling through. Around me, life's journey is heavily laced with sarcasm. There is so much to experince that I am constantly looking for something different. For example, just before leaving the Smokies I grabbed a pair of skates and skated with the Hard Knox Roller Girls. It was my first time on quads and loved it! One of my favorite experiences was sandboarding down the tallest dune in North America. Just in case you were wondering, it was certaintly a workout carrying a board up an 860ft tall dune at 9,000ft in elevation, but it was worth it.
I cannot live without my family, coffee, nature, and dark beers. I love being in my family's lives. Granted, I prefer to be in their lives from a distance. When it comes to coffee, you could say I "worship at the altar of Starbucks." As for beer, bring it on! I was raised hiking and climbing trees. I'm more comfortable in a forest than in a city. I can navigate amongst vegetation, while I get lost when surrounded by buildings. Trust me, it makes no sense to me either.
I'm new to the area and just started grad school. Which is awesome and horrible because I have a brand new environment to explore with new people to meet, but limited free time to do it in. I'm looking for the must sees and highlights of the area, so if you are game to playing tour guide or chat...hollar.
