Looking to meet a man for friendship and eventually more...
I am looking for the kind of guy that knows that beauty can't be seen in a picture and only realized after getting to know someone. I always try to make a difference for the better in life (whether it is at work, my personal life, or with my volunteer work). I am not perfect by any means, but I admit when I have done wrong and try to make amends. I would like to be with someone with a similar outlook on life. I want to be with someone I respect and I will be your biggest cheerleader, friend, and confidant. I am looking for someone who will be a friend and if all works out partner and lover, eventually.
A little about me - I am a scientist, not a rocket scientist, but I have been known to work with them. Along that same thought, I have spent a few years living and working on tropical Pacific islands. I love the azure blue seas and the days when the Pacific is so calm, it looks like a piece of glass. I also like the warmth. It is kind of interesting out there - life has a different pace, people have different attitudes. I've lived several places... grew up and was educated in rural New York. I moved to the Pacific (my graduate adviser said it was a condition of graduation to move at least 8000 miles away... go figure). After several years there, I needed a touch of reality so moved to Oklahoma... I didn't like OK, but it was a job. A little more than 9 years ago, I moved to Dayton for my current job. I love my job and really like Dayton. I like to try new things, travel, and sometimes just spend evenings at home. Looking for someone who is similar - willing to try new things. I like to think I'm quirky and fun, yet can be serious when need be. I love to walk in the rain (in the warm summer rain) and jump in puddles.
I like nature and hiking through it. I also try my hand at photography... I may not be good at it, but it is easier now that everything is digital. I also like to occasionally get dressed up and go to the ballet or theater or to go out dancing. I love to laugh (and try to find the humor in most situations - it is a lot better than getting frustrated. I try to do things that push me out of my comfort zone (e.g. afraid of heights so hiking to the top of a mountain, kind of thing).
I am not a princess, nor am I looking for a prince charming (charming is just a facade). I am looking for someone who is honest, caring and intelligent. I am not bringing excess baggage to the relationship, and expect the same from him. Someone with whom I can share my life. I would much rather prefer the guy who brings me some bug chewed flowers from his garden, than the guy who calls the florist and has a dozen perfect long stemmed roses delivered.
