Hello! I have many leather bound books and I use cloth napkins at lunch, I drive a 1973 Gran Torino while rocking out to David Hasselhoff's latest single, I wear leather jackets with fringe and brass detailing, I know all the words to 90s rap songs, I lived in a tent in a rainforest for nine months, I despise people who are intolerant of other people's cultures, I have been hit by five different cars five different times, "Here I go again on my own" by Whitesnake is my theme music when I enter a room, I laugh inappropriately when I am nervous, I think acronyms are funny (ITAAF!), I live all important moments as if they were the final dance scene of "Flashdance," I do not like when animals are exploited in the entertainment industry and so will never buy furniture from American Furniture Warehouse nor will I watch "Hangover III," I know all of the taxonomic names within the Order Primates, I am a firm proponent of Resistentialism, and I end every day with a slow-mo 80s movie high five and witty one-liner.
....ok ok Sooo maybe only SOME of the above things are true (I have an over-active imagination). But seriously and a bit more platitudinous, I am honest, passionate, kind, actually very modest and sincere, and independent. I like to surround myself with people that have a great sense of humor and adventure, including reaching both levels of extreme silliness and calm responsibility. Despite joking around, I too can be serious! I have a doctorate in Biological Anthropology with an emphasis in landscape ecology and conservation. This has allowed me to travel and work in some wonderful, albeit remote, places in the world. I have endurance, focus and drive with everything I set my mind too. I am looking for someone who shares this same drive educationally, professionally, and personally... I guess in two words - the "urban cowboy." Someone who would travel to the ends of the earth, even if he had to swim through shrieking eel infested waters, to be with me.
I am a very active person - I love to travel, especially if it is off the beaten path. Most of my traveling has been solo - which is fun - but it would be funner to have someone to share the stories with and not just have inside jokes with myself. I also like to scuba dive (but not with sharks), snowboard, hike, run half-marathons (working up to a full), climb trees, ride bikes, build forts, and just about anything else that involves outside. But, I also like to dress up and explore delicious restaurants or grab a beer and rock happy hour and have great conversation. It would be super to hang out with a friend who has those same interests and to push me to try new things.
