In a nutshell, I am a woman who is proud to say I am 44 years old. I have lived through a lot, and the experiences I've had have made me who I am, so give me credit for every one of those years--I am grateful for them. I will say it helps that I take good care of myself and people are almost always surprised to hear my age. : ) My kids are young, and they keep me feeling young; also, I teach English and spinning and I love to laugh. I've found that just smiling, even when I don't feel like it, can make me feel better. and then I can start to see the humor in situations where I couldn't before I remembered to smile.
My friends and my family are a huge part of my support system and my life--I am very lucky to have some great people around me. I love hanging out, talking around a kitchen island and sharing a bottle of wine or a few beers with people I care about. I have a good sense of humor and I can dish it out as well as take it with a laugh. I enjoy comedy clubs and Steven Wright is one of my favorite comedians--he is the master of the one-liner, but never puts anyone down. I also love the kind of humor found in Airplane! (I know it's an old movie, but it's a classic in my book.) I haven't participated in team sports much, but I enjoy golf and working out at the Y, which is a wonderful organization that I am very loyal to. I love the outdoors, taking walks, and going to the park with my kids. And I love my iphone and Words with Friends!!
I have several jobs right now, but the most important piece of my time is spent as a mom of two young elementary school children. I also teach English composition at a community college, sell purses as a home business, and teach group exercise classes (cycling, cardio, boot camp, and strength and tone) at my local YMCA. My jobs are all wonderful, and they are all parts of who I am--I try to help others learn and make it all fun. My favorite jobs have all involved teaching, from when I was a YMCA camp counselor in high school to now.
I love animals and have a large dog. I've also had cats in my life, and I love them too. Not a big reptile lover, though I am not afraid of snakes at all--I think they-re cool--just don't want one. I despise spiders though, so if you have a pet tarantula, sorry--that's a deal breaker. : )
I like music, but don't especially like big crowded concerts or athletic events. I know, it's blasphemy in Columbus, but I'd rather watch the Buckeyes on TV--it's easier to see what's going on! I have always been a Browns fan, despite . . . despite . . . despite . . . I was born into it, what can I say? "Maybe this year" is my mantra . . . .
I love Broadway shows, so I'll spend the money on dinner and a ticket, but I'd rather watch a movie on the couch at home than go to a theater and spend a ton of money on popcorn.
Favorite night with friends or family would be a casual dinner at home followed by cards or games like Catch Phrase. Just hanging out and laughing and sipping wine or beer.
