I am a Midwestern transplant who finds myself making Philly my home; I am always looking to discover new things around the city. I'm into literature, running, trying new restaurants, and music festivals. Travel is a big motivator in my life - went to Eastern Europe in August, Austria in the fall (highlight: bike tour through wine country), and hopefully Australia this June. I love college football (go Irish!) and yelling at games on my TV when I can't be there. I am on a mission to try all the food trucks in the city. Cooking makes me happy, but I don't like to follow recipes. Don't boss me around, Betty Crocker! This can lead to disasters - in my opinion, this is why to have copious amounts of wine on hand...and hot sauce. Hot sauce makes everything better. I work in clinical research at a hospital, trying to justify my masters degree (medical anthropology). My job gives me purpose (saving lives...sort of) and I'm starting a PhD program in July. I'm usually training some sort of sports related event. I would like to get into more outdoorsy stuff - hiking, camping, skiing, the like - not stuff we typically do in the Midwest (although I have skied at the finest skiing establishment in Western Illinois and from the highest point in Ohio (not very high at all) - I was in awe the first time I saw the Rockies). I would also love to find a marathon or half Ironman training partner. Disclosures: I am freakishly close to my family (all still in Chicago), inordinately attached to my 15 year old convertible, and refuse to accept that I am too old for the Hungarian version of Bonnaroo (Sziget). I chronically overuse semi-colons and ellipses. I am looking for someone who is intelligent, interested in the world, wants to travel, and is willing to explore Philly with me. Respect is key, as is someone who challenges me to look at the world in new ways.
