Hey there! How do you capture the essence of yourself in a few words? I think words like free-spirited, compassionate, warm, original, smart, creative, inquisitive, and funny would best describe me. My wise and vivacious 89 year old aunt tells me I have flair -- and she's gotta be right! :) I'm a down-to-earth girl who loves to laugh and doesn't find it difficult to just be in the moment. I'm passionate about life and full of curiosity -- with very eclectic interests. I love going to the symphony (season tix :) or an art opening but I have just as much fun at a baseball game, experiencing the old school charms of Golden Gate Fields, or going to see a rock show at a local club. I love the city but I also need to counter-balance with escapes into nature -- whether it's the ocean or the hills or old country roads -- I can lose and find myself there at the same time. I think of life as an amazing adventure and know it's too short to do everything but I try to live it with joy and purpose and never lose sight of what a gift it is to be alive.
I was born in Oakland, and grew up in a Chico and I appreciate the sense of community and freedom found there. But I have always been driven to expand my horizons, to seek and explore this wide world. I have been fortunate to travel and live outside California and the U.S. and I look forward to much more travel--especially with someone special. I spent several years living in France. First when I was 20 -- which was a life-changing experience! Then, after college, with a major in French, I packed my bags and was off once again to Paris. I found a job and stayed for 2 1/2 years. My time in France opened new doors for me, new perspectives on my own life, and a sincere appreciation of other people and their cultures. It's been a winding road since then (maybe you can relate!) -- to the east coast for grad school (French literature at Yale) and back to California where I've been for several years. I’m happy to be here and nearer to my family. My sense of curiosity and adventure have more than enough to explore right here in this amazing place!
Among my passions are music and dance. I’ve danced since I was five years old and it is an essential part of who I am. This goes hand in hand with my love of music which moves my soul like almost nothing else. I’ve got Albert King spinning on my turn table right now. But I could just as well be listening to Johnny Cash, Neko Case, Loretta Lynn, Tom Waits, Muddy Waters, Sam Cooke, Stevie Ray Vaughn or Chopin. Really, the list is unending! One of the great things about living here is the overwhelming choice of musical options which I try to take advantage of as much as possible.
My life has been full and exciting, but I'm looking for that soulful man to build a future with. He is honest, passionate, curious, adventurous and open; someone who can see the humor in things, loves to laugh, makes me laugh and is excited about life -- and sharing it with me! He should have a keen intellect, be someone who challenges me, and can also handle being challenged, which I think is important for our individual growth. He’ll love music and enjoy nights out on the town, but he’ll also enjoy staying in, making dinner together, and consider nights like that as potentially the most romantic of all. As has been stated by many, lists of desired attributes can fly out the window when the oh-so-important chemistry is right.
As important (and sometimes difficult!) as it is to try to convey a sense of who we are in these profiles, nothing can compare to meeting and talking in person. An ideal first date would be getting together for coffee or a drink -- anything where we can relax, be ourselves, and get to know each other....
