This is such a strange experience - revealing who I am and a list of what I want for strangers to glean some idea of possible chemistry. I would really just like to meet some new and interesting people, and maybe one of those friendships might turn into something. If not, hopefully we've all had some fun along the way.
Okay, so here's my first attempt(I reserve the right to revise this repeatedly)...
I love people. I look at people when I'm walking down a sidewalk or in the mall and I often smile or say hello - unless I'm in NYC, because the people there don't know how to deal with that( I'm originally from NY). I offer to help when I see someone struggling with a stroller, walker, groceries, etc. I can be standing on line in the grocery store and simply turn around and talk to the person behind me for no reason. I enjoy getting to know people's stories, and will often do so in waiting rooms, at the bank, picking pumpkins - pretty much anywhere. So if this type of behavior is not embarrassing to you, please keep reading.
I enjoy my large Italian family, even when we have several weekends in a row of obligatory birthday celebrations, dance recitals, baby showers, anniversaries, BBQ's, reunions, and the list goes on. I have finally figured out that the people in my life must enjoy being with these loud, albeit fun, people and taking part in most of these functions.
I see life as a series of opportunities, even amidst challenges. I am not one of those people who keeps a fake smile on her face no matter what. I am actually a truly optimistic person, always finding a way to see the possibilities. Sure, I get upset when things go wrong, like everyone else. Then, I quickly look for ways I can best change my circumstances and/or find the lesson in it.
After all this time, I have discovered that the best relationships are between people of similar natures. So for me, that would be someone who enjoys people, animals, being with family, and has a positive outlook.
Some fun stuff...
I love traveling - Italy, France, England, day trips. NYC is one of my favorite places in the world, tied with Florence, Italy. I like finding little out of the way places and different people with unique stories.
I love movies and television - all genres. Mad Men, Glee, House, Entourage - as long as it's done well, I'll watch it. I also watch some sports - college football and occasionally basketball, Steelers, Jets and Eagles games, baseball (I'm a Mets fan, so Phillies fans should be forewarned), and the Olympics.
I like being out, but I also enjoy quiet nights at home with friends or at the neighbor's sitting and talking on the deck. I don't take long to get ready to go out and hope you wouldn't either:) I expect - no, require - that the other person have his own life and ambitions. I am passionate about my work and my life and want to meet people with a passion of their own. We should already be complete people separately, and then be able to share what and who we are.
And most importantly, I want to have some fun! I want to laugh, be silly, be creative in some way, and be with someone who is a nice, genuine and complete person.
So if you could actually get through all of that and relate to what I was saying, I would love to hear from you...
