Hi! Thanks for checking out my profile. I'm a super laid back, kind and considerate person who loves to laugh, the fine arts, music, cooking and travel. I like to learn new things all the time, I am always studying or researching something or another! I'm a painter, writer, and a jazz singer. Areas of interest and study other than the fine arts are social justice, comparative religion, spirituality, psychology, anthropology, and mythology. I love to travel! Though not at all opposed to luxury, I am good in rustic and off the grid settings a well.
I have relocated to New Orleans from Charleston, SC and New York City. I've been in Charleston for 2 1/2 years after 11 years in NYC. I also spend a lot of time in Asheville, NC. I moved back up to New York for the fall, and after the holidays in Charleston, I was about to head back, but New Orleans has drawn me back in!! I lived here in the winter/spring of 2011.
Music wise- I like a wide array of genres. I typically listen to jazz, indie/alt, singer/songwriter, "world music", classical, experimental and electronic. I was a music agent for many years in the jazz and world music market, touring international artist in North America and representing US based artist abroad, and in concert production as well. So, in addition to my own singing, music has been a huge part of my life. I was also a fashion stylist in New York, a restaurant critic at one point, and worked in political media consulting way back in the day.
I am pretty social, but enjoy relaxed evenings at home as well. I spend my spare time going out to art openings, the cinema, the theater, concerts/ live music, dining with friends or having dinner parties. I seriously love to cook and entertain. I love growing what I cook if I am able, as I love to garden! I am into self sustainable gardening and permaculture in general. I am too much of an old world gourmet to be completely health foodie, but I am generally into health foods, wellness, and nutritional medicine. But I am not uptight about it, I love eating out and what better place to eat than New Orleans!!!
I enjoy yoga, the gym, swimming, biking, hiking for exercise and like to keep active. I have been learning to surf on Folly Beach, but I am not so great at it yet. I am finally standing up though! I absolutely love to swim!
I keep a pretty meditative vibe, but appreciate goofy fun and a sense of humour is important. Laughter is vital! I enjoy intellectual conversation, and a strong physical connection is important to me, I am very sensual and I prefer someone that is affectionate and likes to snuggle! I am looking for that special someone with whom I can share my life, but I am also open to meeting new friends here, as I am still pretty new to New Orleans and need friends with whom I can explore this amazing city!
We probably won't get along if you are a hard core republican or have absolutely no appreciation for the arts. Otherwise, I don't have a lot preconceived notions about who I am supposed to be with and sometimes opposite attract.
For now, I just want to have fun getting to know someone, share intellectual exchange, enjoy the city, and then see where it goes!
