Chances are that I outweigh you. I could have been vague and listed myself as “a few extra pounds” or the newer category “curvy”. Both, I suppose would be correct, but not the whole picture. The truth is that I would be a wonderful model for Renoir or Reuben, complete with the flowing blond hair. Being vague does not help in this situation. So it is big and beautiful which somehow always seems to make me think of late night TV shows you’d pay for rather than a mostly straight laced, professional woman you might eventually think of introducing to your parents.
In my fantasy world I would meet someone by chance who gets to know me first and likes me before they learn that I am an ordained minister. There is an episode of “Vicar of Dibley” in which a newcomer to town becomes interested in her before he discovers that she is clergy. He seems attracted to her, interested in talking to her and simply can’t get enough of her – even after he discovers that she is clergy. Yeah – I am looking for something like that.
I am looking for someone that sees me as a fun loving, down to earth, comical, sometimes crass, and caring. I look forward to finding someone with whom I can turn all of the filters off that I carefully maintain in a professional pastor and who likes me in that raw state and respects what I do professionally even if they are not a churchgoer. I am most likely do not fit your stereotype of a pastor. I am liberal, progressive, down to earth and love wine as well as other libations. I am an advocate of pro choice and LGBT issues. If none of that shocks you, we should meet for coffee. If it does, but you are curious, a conversation might be good. If you think you will change me from my sinful ways, good luck, others have tried and failed. Now, other subjects may be up for discussion, but not my faith.
Eventually, I am looking for something serious, but one doesn’t get to that point without a trials. I am game for casual conversation, coffee, a walk, a glass of wine, a cup of tea to get to know one another a little bit to see what happens.
