I am a college professor, and I completely love my job. I love teaching, and I love doing research. I also like to put down my work and play. Some of my favorite ways to play are skiing, playing with my little dog, taking walks, sailing, playing golf (walking, not riding in a cart!), playing my bassoon, watching movies, reading, trying out new recipes with friends.
The other details: I'm a native of Virginia, although I was away for college and graduate school. I love learning new stuff, and I'm a bit of a geek. I think I'm an equal opportunity geek - I studied French, Linguistics, and Mathematics, and I still like picking up new languages. I also love science - I took a Biology course last year as part of a course exchange, and I got really excited about what I could learn about teaching and relating to students from a faculty member in another discipline.
In the summer, I spend a few weeks doing some volunteer work at a camp in Indiana. I usually work with junior high kids! I teach the kids sailing, and I take a bike trip with them. It's nice to do something so totally different from my normal work for a few weeks every summer, and I hope that I am a positive influence on these kids, even if it is only for a week.
I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for. Maybe someone to date, maybe a partner. I'm open to seeing where things go, and I'm not attached to a particular outcome. I think it's important to be kind and respectful to everyone we meet, and I expect the same from you!
