I am originally from Northern California, although I have lived for a few years in Portland, Oregon. I moved to Los Angeles a few years back for graduate school, and I have found grad school to be an incredibly isolating place.
I am inspired by learning new things, discovering new things, and solving problems. I have recently taught myself to make confections. My current favorite being coffee-dusted chocolate covered almonds, although my friends also like my fiery almonds. I have also learned how to brew my own beer, and was given the greatest compliment that it tasted like beer. My favorites so far are a Belgian saison, an Irish red, and a brown ale.
I enjoy spending time with friends, and also enjoy having time to myself to relax. That said, I've learned experiences are best enjoyed with others. I also have fun doing outdoor activities, including hiking and camping, and I am interested in getting scuba diving training sometime. I went on a discover scuba dealie a few years ago, and despite how odd it felt to breathe in through my mouth underwater, it was awesome!
