I moved to Michigan this summer after having spent the last three years in Connecticut. I've been a Coast Guard officer for the last 6 years and love what I do. I have little tolerance for those who do not love what they spend the better part of their lives doing. My career has taken me to 4 different continents and involved just about every mission the Coast Guard is responsible for. I am a happy person - and I abhor sad sack, woe-is-me mentalities. I am wary of (most) absolutes (how fitting!) but am still very principled and have strong opinions of what is right, wrong, and sensible. I am intensely happy when outside, on a horse, in a tent, doing triathlons, in a climbing harness, at a ballet, on a snowboard, book in hand, and in my job. I am looking for a best friend, a traveler, and someone who loves to bounce ideas back and forth. But since I can't stay serious about a description of myself for too long, here are some of the more random bits: I am a self-confessed grammar nerd... I also own half a dozen books (which is 1% of my total) on English linguistics. Appropriately, my favorite Disney princess is Belle (because she gets a library). If you can beat me at Bananagrams, I'm already a fan. I will go out of my way to visit any cafe or coffee shop that serves egg creams. My new favorite Michigan winter activity is snow-biking... I'll be back to Tahoe this year, but cutting tracks in a few inches of new snow on my mountain bike at Stony Creek is pretty cool, too. Four prepositions later... Myers-Briggs: INFJ, F by nature, but for the most part, T in practice. Luna Lovegood is my favorite J.K. Rowling character. And, done. Whew.
