ABOUT HER & WHO SHE'S LOOKING FOR

Until my meddling friends signed me up for this service, I was blissfully unaware that being single in married suburbia is a crime. Not that I don't want to date anyone... My life is just so full it hadn't occurred to me to make any special effort in that department. I meet people when I go out with my friends from work, but I'm just not into getting hit on by drunk kids roughly the same age as that cheerleading sweater I threw in a trunk a couple of decades ago because my mom insisted it was a keepsake. Needless to say, I haven't met anyone I'd consider dating while hanging out in Midtown on a Saturday night. (FYI boys, "Cougar Town" is purely fiction! Sane women over 40 don't really want to date the pool boy. :P)

Judging by the plethora of messages I get from men who appear to be my polar opposite and look more like my dad than a potential date, I'm not thoroughly convinced anyone actually reads profiles on here. If you do happen to be one of the few who do, I am impressed. If, in addition to your reading skills, you are a non-smoker UNDER 50 YRS and old enough to not theoretically be someone I could've given birth to, please read on.

Despite my obviously snarky sense of humor, I'm really just your basic, wholesome all-American woman, the kind your mom would approve of and that would never embarrass you in front of the boss but still gives you cause to brag a little to your buddies. (We ladies know you guys all do that.) I was a cheerleader, but also a full-ride scholar, class President, AKPsi social chair, corporate diversity champ and Microsoft tech strategist. I still consider myself an artist and athlete. (The basketball-tennis-softball-playing, mountain bike-riding kind.) Personality-wise, one of the filmmakers I met while volunteering for the indie film fest told me I have "a presence." I'm pretty sure that was really just a comment on the 4.5" heels and auburn hair that tend to make me stand out in a crowd, but I like to consider it a compliment on my easy-going but confident attitude. ;-) I am an experienced public speaker and performing artist, so I MIGHT be just a bit on the gregarious side in social situations. Maybe. My geek co-workers all seem to think I'm the cool kid just because I'm fashionable, was the lead singer in a couple of bands and get invited to film premiers. Trust me, I'm really not that cool. I deeply enjoy my software solution architect job and secretly love "Star Wars," "Star Trek," and almost anything involving the Marvel Universe. I watch Disney movies and usually like it. Yes, I am a geek, too. Shh! I also love independent films, photography and writing.

If I could order a guy like a pie from a pizza menu, he'd be an educated athlete like me who is in his 30s or 40s, visibly taller than me in my ubiquitous high heels, and of course, attractive but not narcissistic. He probably wouldn't be into country music and cowboy hats but open to new alt-rock bands, the fine arts and black tie events. He'd definitely have a solid career, great sense of humor and a positive outlook on life. No one would see us together and feel the urge to whisper, "He must have a LOT of money." He'd be humble, honest, confident, altruistic and kind. Oh wait, I think I just described Clark Kent. How nerdy of me!

Seriously, I don't expect anyone to be perfect nor wear a cape. I would like to feel like the man I'm with is at least from the same planet and doesn't mind if I only watch TV when cooking, sorting laundry or suffering the flu. He will definitely need to be in good enough shape to outrun the average ten-year-old girl and count his abs with more than 2 fingers, or we won't have much in common. So, if you're up for playing in the competitive league and don't feel out of place amongst people with a college degree, give me a shout. I'm actually not nearly as scary as I seem on paper. Or in pixels. If it helps, I'll show up for that first meet up wearing jeans and one of my Snoopy t-shirts. And 5" heels. Ha ha ha!
