What should you know about me right off the bat?
A man with a well-used library card makes me swoon.
When the weather is nice I like to load up my backpack with comic books and provisions and spend the day hiking and reading.
I'm finishing up grad school and have yet to have an existential "Now what?" moment.
I have a comic book delivery guy and the Thai delivery place recognizes my voice from the moment I say, "Hi"
I have season tickets to the Seahawks. During football season I worship the Holy Trinity of Jimmy, Terry and Howie every Sunday.
I have a hairless cat. I've heard just about every bald "kitty" joke imaginable. Don't be "that guy."
What do people notice about me?
My hair. It's big. It's red. It's its own entity.
Then my tattoos.
Then my full book bag.
What things make me happy?
Thrift stores.
Comic book stores.
Record stores.
Book stores.
My National Parks pass.
Being active. I play rugby and am part of a modern gladiator fight club. Growing up with 4 brothers will do that to you.
Books-Vonnegut anything. No, seriously, his articles, his interviews, anything. Octavia Butler, Nick Hornsby, Margaret Atwood, Pablo Neruda, Tom Robbins. Basically, if you don't read, we probably won't have a lot in common.
Movies-Orson Welles is my ultimate dead guy crush. The Third Man, Citizen Kane, Touch of Evil- All amazing. You've got to know your film history! Contemporary stuff- Wes Anderson (Yeah, I know), the Coen brothers (Again, I know), Lars von Trier. And lest you think I'm too highbrow- I love me some Hot Rod and Step Brothers has got to be the funniest movie of all time.
Shows- AMC is the only reason I keep cable. Mad Men, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad. I'm also a PBS nerd. Don't call during NOVA or Frontline, cuz I ain't answering. Arrested Development was the best show ever made and I quote it far too much. STEVE HOLT!
If you bad mouth Battlestar Galactica I'll probably use that as an excuse to bad mouth your mother. Tim and Eric have an awesome show (Great job!).
Music- The Dutchess and The Duke, Case Studies, First Aid Kit, Buck Owens, Nina Simone, David Bowie, Tom Waits, Iggy Pop, TacocaT, The Hidden Cameras, Elliott Smith, The Pixies, Kimya Dawson, Woody Guthrie, The Cramps, The Kinks, Seu Jorge. All over the map. I love Seattle for the incredible music scene we have. I try to catch at least one show a week. I also am obsessed with vinyl. It's safe to say, if you like Nickleback or Daughtry or anything similar, we probably won't get along. Best way to describe it is KEXP tastes, including the shows they have at night. If you know who Leon Berman is, we're cool.
Food-Anything. Seriously. I'll eat just about anything. I love exploring all the places in Seattle and want someone that's just as big of an adventurous eater as I am. I've been known to plan my travel around food. Case in point, making a stop in the Philippines so I could try balut. I don't recommend it.
