After being on this for a month, I have found that I’ve described myself much more effectively through questions in emails than what I originally spent 5 minutes on in a blank text box telling me to describe myself, so here goes my revised version…
I grew up in WY, but spent a lot of my time playing sports across CO. I went to undergrad in Nashville at Vandy and have also lived in Knoxville, DC, New Orleans and now Chapel Hill. I absolutely love the South, but will always be a WY girl at heart. Moving to new places, meeting people and experiencing the "local" scene excites me--that’s why I follow the doctrine that life begins when you leave your comfort zone. Rather than move, I am now looking to get the first stamp on my passport this year.
I've always been driven to be a leader in healthcare and have been passionate about this field for as long as I can remember (literally, I was 5). I was pre-med through undergrad and am now in my last semester of grad school at UNC. I couldn’t be happier as I’ve found my niche in healthcare and am very excited to begin an executive management career in May.
My family is my rock. It’s that simple. My parents are my role models and have taught me that you can have it all both professionally and personally. I’ve watched them do it for 27 years (but they’ve been at it for 38). My siblings are 6 and 8 years older than me, so I’ve been fortunate to grow and learn from them--I'm definitely the free spirit of the family! My niece and nephew are my two favorite people--so different and awesome in their own ways.
I say w/ complete confidence that I watch sports more than most females (prefer college to pro, but watch them all) and LOVE going to games. I grew up playing soccer and basketball year-round, played volleyball until I blew out my shoulder, played softball, golf, swim team...you get the point. Basically, I was always the team captain, never the cheerleader running from the ball (nothing against cheerleaders, they make a great SNL skit!). I've set a goal to run my first half marathon by June--I like tangible goals. Most importantly, I can laugh at myself. I have a very witty sense of humor and surround myself with the same. I’m fiercely Libra, so I require balance in everything and find that maintaining an active social life is the cure for a serious professional life. I can be found anywhere live music is (much harder to find here than in Nashville!). I’m an optimist balanced by realism. My career choice requires me to be a woman in a man’s world as they say; therefore, I make logical decisions, not emotional ones. I’ll never describe myself as “bubbly” or “silly” because I have a brain…and I really enjoy using it! However, I'm a huge jokester and do have a very sweet/compassionate side that I willingly share with people in my personal life. I’m polished and poised, but definitely know how and when to unwind. I love my high heels as much as my cowboy boots. I like to be challenged because I'm very ambitious--not to mention boredom and complacency just don’t work for me. I am at my best when I'm under pressure, so I find ways to create it. In addition to two part-time jobs and school, I am an officer in three UNC organizations (I agree, it’s a little nerdy) and recently joined a professional networking group in Raleigh.I am looking for someone who is confident, challenges me intellectually, and is consistent in his endeavors. Gentlemen raised me, so I want the guy who holds doors, etc. I also need someone who is up for adventure and has an open mind since I surround myself with people from all different walks of life--people fascinate me. I’ve taken time off from relationships and dating to get through school. Now that I've decided to stay in NC, I’m ready to find a guy who I can share all aspects of my life with, not just bits and pieces. I’m not looking to “settle” down anytime soon, but rather find one guy who wants to join in the fun, share experiences and create memories.
