ABOUT HER & WHO SHE'S LOOKING FOR

Me: independent, career-oriented, Ivy League-educated, GGG (bonus points if you get the reference), travels a lot for both work and play. Fiercely intense about things that interest me, including (fortunately, since I spend better than half of my waking life doing it) a job that I'm actually passionate about.

More me: recent transplant to the PNW for work, starting to get into a bit of a groove - Sunday morning spin classes, finding new restaurants on Friday and Saturday nights, cooking classes and other stuff in-between. Unrepentant fan of bad 80's glam music and even worse 90's hair bands - the sunroof on my car stays open with the music blaring unless precipitation is actively falling. There's also a band I love that no-one else on the planet has ever heard of (Marillion), whom I will get on a plane and fly to another continent to watch in concert. No, you don't have to come, but you'll be missing out. :-)

Equal parts foodie and workout junkie, there's a joke in there somewhere about a never-ending circle but I can't quite get the bat off of my shoulders. The 'foodie' part means that I will take entire vacations based around particular restaurants, or drive to Portland to try out some food trucks...also I can spend a very relaxing hour wandering the aisles of Whole Foods without buying a single item of substance. (Random paradoxical data point - I like my chocolate and cheese sharp enough to make me wince, but my drinks mellow enough to gulp...if I can taste the alcohol, I'll think it's too strong.)

The 'workout junkie' part means that I have rather unexpectedly become a 3-sport athlete: running, cycling, climbing. I'll run several miles (though 'run' might be charitable, others might call it 'race-walk') without being chased...although, come to think of it, I've done enough Zombie Runs that I bought tactical knee/elbow pads. I also spend multiple evenings every week doing my best Spidey-Girl impression at local rock-climbing gyms. Spidey-Girl, Spidey-Girl, does whatever a...damn, lost the rhyme.

Fair warning: I have encyclopedic knowledge of various nerdly topics, and will wax eloquent on said, given half a chance. A few random examples:

* The title of "The Walking Dead" refers to both the walkers (in the entire run of the show no-one has ever used the word "zombie") as well as the survivors. Discuss. (Speaking of which, is it October yet?)

* Matt Smith was not taken by the Weeping Angel even though he broke down crying right in front of it after Amy and Rory were taken. Do you know why? (Also, is it time for the Christmas special yet?)

* The actions of every character, every single character, in Star Trek: Into Darkness, were motivated by the answer to the same question: "What will you do to protect the things you love?"

* The makers of the film adaptation of "World War Z" could have absolutely made a "Hollywood movie" that remained true to the spirit of the book. Act I - tracking the contagion. Act II - emotional angst over implementing the Redekker Plan. Act III - The Battle of Yonkers. Epilogue voice-over - The Slow March Across North America. Fade to black.

* "Sons of Anarchy" and "Aliens" are treatises on strong women. Discuss.

Things I enjoy: love to eat out (sushi, French, steakhouse, roughly in that order), love to watch the next blockbuster movie (can't decide which of Star Trek: Into Darkness or Pacific Rim was the more perfect summer movie), or else stay in and cook while watching some Burn Notice or Sons of Anarchy - I make a mean roast chicken, courtesy of the immortal Julia Child.
