Among many other superpowers, I wield ninja-level PhotoShop skills – but those pictures you just finished viewing? They’re 100% unadulterated, authentic me. I’m nearly 5’-11”, which I recently read is the height of the average supermodel. Despite that coincidence, I can assure you that I’m not often accused of being a supermodel… or, for that matter, of being “average”. About me: I am… an architect. I was warned not to tell you this right away because it would allegedly scare you off, but really, I have more faith in you than that. For now, you need to know that I love it, and that I’m good at it. …Still here? I knew you would be. I am… always impressed by honed wit, shocking originality, and elegant simplicity... the things and people and places that draw you in, take your breath, and make you forget where you are – and who you are – for just a little while. I am… the kind of girl that goes on summer vacation with family and comes back with a kayak she hadn’t planned to buy. Because it turns out that I’ve always been the kind of person that would own a kayak. I am... the glass half full type. If yours is empty, I'll fill it. I am… likely to sit down and not get up until I’ve finished reading an entire book, if it's a good one. I love words – the power of the right ones… the devastating effect of the wrong ones, and the context that makes all the difference. The impossible beauty of an exquisitely-formed idea. The quote that haunts you for days. Seeing something in a new way and never being able to un-see it. I am… not likely to leave the important things unsaid. I am… fiercely protective and supportive of “my people” -- my family, whom I am very close to, and a small circle of mindblowingly wonderful and dedicated friends, mentors, and partners-in-crime. None of them has ever called me to help them bury a body. But they know they could. I am… a fan of being healthy, but I'm not a "health nut". I rely on my weekly yoga class to annihilate stress (relax, guys... it's not a religion!). I used a jedi mind trick to bamboozle myself into jogging, and I’m up to 5k (on a good day). I garden, I’ve been going camping since I was 6 months old, I golf (not well), I’ve taken Tai Chi and Zumba classes – I love new challenges. I try to eat well, but still maintain a deep and abiding appreciation for things like dark chocolate and ice cream. (Two words: “emotional nutrition”.) I am… going to make it to Italy one day. Not just Italy, other places, too. But definitely Italy. Soon. I’m looking for: The kind of smile that lights up your eyes and lets me know that I might be in for just a little more than I bargained for. It’s genuine, no-holds-barred, and often accompanied by a casual but challenging comment and a raised eyebrow. I accept your challenge. You may 'lose', but I assure you, you’ll have fun doing it... Authenticity, honesty, and trust. Non-negotiable. You can count on me for the same. Someone who works through problems rather than avoiding them, and who understands that there are times when companionable silence speaks louder than words. And hugs. Hugs are really good, too. A partner with growth potential. Someone who has a plan, but is open to -- and interested in -- making life bigger, learning new things about the world, himself, me, us… A wise individual who understands that asking a recovering perfectionist to do a perfect job with her “recovery” is… counter-productive. Someone else whose sports heroes include (but are not necessarily limited to) the little girl wearing the sparkly shoes at mini-golf. She believes in herself, is totally in the moment, closes her eyes and takes the shot… and more often than not, she gets that hole-in-one.
