I'm happiest when I'm surrounded by towering mountains. Or when I'm a stranger in a foreign town, anonymously taking it all in. Or on a bluebird spring day when I hear the song of a newly arrived migrating bird. Or when I'm surrounded by friends that feel more like family. Skiing makes me smile, as does doing just about anything outside (especially in wild places), the generosity of a neighbor, the scent of the first poplar buds of the season or a small gesture of kindness that can tend to otherwise get overlooked. Sarcasm and clever wit will turn a smile into fully belly laughter. I've been told people try to make me laugh just because it's so loud and contagious.
I've never been one to blindly accept boundaries. I'm not so fond of sitting still, and instead prefer to make the most of each opportunity. I'm not a frivolous risk-taker, but I recognize that if I put myself out there just a little, the rewards can be incredible. This philosophy has led me to pursue an active life of beauty, simplicity, passion, adventure, exploration and to follow my ambitions. It has brought me incredible friendships and constantly reminds me that this life is precious. I love going for a full moon ski at 2 a.m. when the moon-light is brightest, and making that last arduous push to the top of the ridge where the views will be most outstanding. These are the small pleasures that mean so much to me. I'd like to share those moments with someone close to me.
I definitely don't think that there's only one type of person for me, but I tend to desire someone who wants to collaborate in scheming up new adventures, isn't taken aback by a competent, confident, independent woman and wants to share in all of life's adventures. As much as I like to get out and about, I also enjoy the rewards that come from cabin life and completing chores around home. I relish turning a task like moving firewood into a fun afternoon followed by a satisfying dinner, good wine and cozying up by the fire with a whole new appreciating for the warmth it provides. Communication, respect and support are all necessary and tend to guide me in relationships. Common interests are important, but I love learning new things, being introduced to other peoples' passions and having lively discussions. It keeps life exciting!
