Q and A With… Cat Deeley

The host of So You Think You Can Dance talks about love— and where to find it.

You are the very sexy British host on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance and you’re single. Is it hard to find time to date when you are working on the show?

It is. I am always at rehearsal doing something or we’re filming onstage. But of course you always need to make time for love!

What have you learned from your romantic relationships?

That I’m a big, awful nightmare to deal with!

What do you look for in a man?

A sense of humor is very important to me. I like funny! And I like guys who can tell a great story. Plus, if you can teach me something, that’s great too. Topics that I have no idea about at all, like wine, art or law—whatever it is, is great to learn about!

Should they also know how to dance?

No! Because I can’t dance! But at least we can shoulder-shimmy! Or maybe I can get a guy who can teach me to dance!

Are dance clubs a fun way to meet men?!

I am sure if I could move better, they would be!

What’s a good tip you can give people who are looking for a date?

Smile a lot! Twinkling eyes and a great sense of confidence makes all the difference in the world.

What’s the difference between American men and British men?

You would laugh, but I actually think American men are more chivalrous. I have more doors opened for me by American men than I do British men. American men are taught by their mums and that makes them very mild-mannered. And that is one of the many reasons why I love American men!
